Architecture of a Wearable Device
Kippy Dog is a wearable GPS device designed to track pets' location, activity, and movement in real time.
Developed for Kippy, the project arose from the need to integrate electronics, connectivity, a battery, and location tracking systems into a compact, durable device designed for everyday use in outdoor environments.
PQ Design Group oversaw the industrial design and product development activities, focusing on product architecture, hardware integration, and the definition of a simple, recognizable formal language consistent with the context of use.
Particular attention was paid to the miniaturization of the device, its structural durability, and the balance between size, battery life, and comfort for the animal.
The result is a compact and intuitive wearable device, designed to integrate naturally into the daily lives of pets and their owners.
Compact Electronics Design
The development of wearable electronic devices requires a constant balance between technological integration, battery life, size, and real-world use.
In the Kippy Dog project, the battery, antenna, electronics, and connectivity systems had to be integrated into a compact structure designed to withstand movement, impacts, and prolonged outdoor use.
Particular attention was paid to the product’s internal design, component protection, and the perceived quality of the device, with the goal of making the technology simpler, more intuitive, and more reliable for everyday use.
Through an iterative development process, the product has been progressively optimized to improve hardware integration, ergonomics, and overall system consistency.
