Turning Meditation into a Measurable Experience
Meditation offers recognized benefits for mental well-being and the ability to concentrate, but many practitioners find it difficult to gauge their progress and maintain a consistent practice over time.
Flowtime was created to bridge this gap through a wearable device capable of collecting physiological data during meditation and transforming it into useful and easily understandable information.
PQ Design Group supported the product's development through the industrial design of the device, focusing on ergonomics, user comfort, and the integration of technology into a simple, lightweight, and unobtrusive form.
The goal was to create a product capable of supporting the user during meditation without interfering with the experience, while ensuring reliability, comfort, and perceived quality.
Design Challenges
Adapting to Different Users
The device was designed to ensure proper sensor placement on users with a wide range of physical characteristics. The product's geometry was developed to adapt to different head shapes, while maintaining stability and comfort during use.
Reduce weight and size
Since the device is worn during extended meditation sessions, it was essential to minimize its weight and the user’s perception of it. Each component was designed to be lightweight, discreet, and unobtrusive, promoting a natural feel during use.
Integrating Sensors and Electronic Components
Integrating the sensors and electronics into a compact design required careful planning of the product architecture. The goal was to ensure reliable data collection without compromising ergonomics and perceived quality.
