Design of a professional pour-over coffee maker.
In the specialty coffee sector, product design directly influences the user experience, operational precision, and perceived quality.
Developed for a startup in the coffee equipment industry, the project arose from the need to transform the manual pour-over ritual into a more controlled, intuitive, and consistent experience for everyday use.
PQ Design Group oversaw the industrial design and product development efforts, focusing on product architecture, user interaction, and the balance between technical performance, ease of use, and design language.
Every component of the machine has been designed to enhance ergonomics, accessibility, and ease of use, creating a system that integrates naturally into contemporary specialty coffee environments.
The project evolved through several design iterations aimed at optimizing the system’s proportions, interaction, and overall integration, resulting in a compact, professional machine designed to combine precision, functional clarity, and perceived quality.
Design Challenges
1. Operational Workflow
Development of a configuration designed to simplify setup, accessibility, and interaction during the various stages of machine operation.
2. Product Architecture
Definition of a compact architectural design capable of integrating technical components, accessibility, and functional clarity within a minimalist structure.
3. Perceived Quality and Formal Language
Development of a formal language consistent with the contemporary specialty coffee world, through surfaces, proportions, and details designed to convey precision, simplicity, and reliability.
