Design of a razor with improved interaction of the interchangeable head.

Rapira, a leading brand in the shaving industry in Russia, commissioned PQ Design to develop a new razor concept that would stand out both functionally and aesthetically. The goal was to create a product that would elevate the daily shaving experience by combining visual appeal, high-quality materials, and intuitive usability.

A central feature of the design is the interchangeable brush head release mechanism, which has been thoroughly studied from both a functional and perceptual standpoint to ensure that removing and replacing the brush head is intuitive, precise, and satisfying during use. This mechanism not only improves usability but also builds user confidence in an interaction that occurs repeatedly throughout the day.

1. Interchangeable head

The release mechanism is designed to allow for simple and intuitive detachment and reattachment of the head, enhancing the user experience in a product category characterized by frequent interactions.

2. Tactile materials

The choice of materials is guided by their tactile quality, to enhance grip, comfort, and the perception of quality, thereby reinforcing the product’s identity as an everyday personal care item.

3. Ergonomic grip

The shape and proportions are designed to promote a natural and secure grip, incorporating ergonomic principles that enhance comfort without compromising visual recognition.
